Jean Paul Gaultier started his fashion house in 1982 six years after showcasing his debut collection. He soon became known as "l'enfant terrible" within the fashion community for constantly challenging ideas of fashion and twisting them with his own ideas. He went on to be creative director of french fashion house Hermes from 2003 to 2010. Gaultier commonly used stripes and colour in his designs and these jeans are a brilliant example of that using Levi's classic 501 jean but giving a twist by adding the over-exaggerated cuffs and thick red chain stitch to give them an elevated high fashion finish.
